Festival booking tips from the pro's (PDF)

"Here today, and gone tomorrow"

That’s been the unfortunate fate of many recent music festivals that have come and gone. With artist booking fees rising, production costs increasing, and dozens of other obstacles and hazards, producing a music festival in this day and age is a massive undertaking. It’s no surprise then why many festivals “pop up.” and then are unable to return for a second year.

Choosing artists for your lineup

From a study we did in 2018, we found that on average, 40% of music festival budgets go straight to booking talent (that’s more than twice what the second largest line item was… production costs!). It’s fair to say then, that picking the artists for your lineup will be the single largest expense you’ll need to consider when producing your own festival.

How we can help

To help you on your journey, we interviewed producers from successful music festivals all over the United States and asked them an array of questions. We wanted to find out what their thought process is when choosing talent, and what steps they take to ensure that their investments are safe. Obviously, the information we gathered was a gold mine, and we want to share it with you for free!

Our Free PDF covers the following topics:

  • Knowing how big to go (and when)
  • Relationships with artists, managers, and agents
  • Picking the right headliners
  • Picking the right support acts
  • Collecting and visualizing your data
  • Creating a plan and sticking with it
  • Deciding how much to offer
  • Structuring your offer

Ticketing Software vs Eventbrite: Which Pays?

If you're comparing ticketing software vs Eventbrite, you're probably not looking for another generic feature grid. You're trying to answer a harder question: which option actually helps you keep more money, move tickets faster, and run cleaner operations on event day. That is the real decision, and it matters a lot more than whether a platform can technically publish an event page.

Festival Ticketing Software That Sells More

Most festival organizers do not lose money because they cannot sell a ticket. They lose money because their tech stack is working against them. Festival ticketing software is supposed to help you launch faster, control entry, and manage sales. Too often, it does the opposite - high fees, disconnected marketing tools, slow box office workflows, and a checkout experience that leaks conversions.

How to Manage Event Check-In Without Chaos

The line at the door tells your attendees what kind of event you’re running before they see the stage, the ballroom, or the bar. If check-in is slow, confused, or understaffed, people feel it immediately. That’s why learning how to manage event check-in is not a minor operations task. It’s one of the fastest ways to protect revenue, reduce stress, and make your event feel professionally run from the first scan.
