How to create password-protected ticket types

(Last updated 8/19/24)

When creating ticket types for your event, there are three different visibility settings on PromoTix:

  1. Public 👉 ticket type is available both publicly online and using the private point-of-sale system.
  2. Private 👉 ticket type is only available for sale using the private point-of-sale system.
  3. Password-protected 👉 ticket type is hidden online until a password is entered making the ticket type visible. Also available for sale using the private point-of-sale system.

Creating a password-protected ticket type is a great way to offer special discounted tickets to an exclusive group of people. Follow these instructions to create your first password-protected ticket type.

NOTE: using password-protected ticket types for high demand on-sales is currently not supported.

1. Click on the "Ticket types" tab

Once you've created a password-protected ticket type, a link that says Password-protected tickets will be created automatically and displayed on your event's "Select tickets" page.

Visitors will only be able to purchase password-protected tickets by entering in the appropriate password.

NOTE: passwords entered do not need to be case sensitive.
