When creating ticket types for your event, there are three different visibility settings on PromoTix:
- Public 👉 ticket type is available both publicly online and using the private point-of-sale system.
- Private 👉 ticket type is only available for sale using the private point-of-sale system.
- Password-protected 👉 ticket type is hidden online until a password is entered making the ticket type visible. Also available for sale using the private point-of-sale system.
Creating a password-protected ticket type is a great way to offer special discounted tickets to an exclusive group of people. Follow these instructions to create your first password-protected ticket type.
NOTE: using password-protected ticket types for high demand on-sales is currently not supported.
1. Click on the "Ticket types" tab
Login to your PromoTix account using a web browser, and then click on one of your live events.
Click on the Ticket types tab in the drawer on the left side of the screen.
2. Click on the "Options" button
Create a new ticket type if you need to using the button(s) at the bottom of the screen.
When you are ready to protect a password-protected ticket type, click on the Options button to the right of the ticket type.
3. Check the "Password required" checkbox and then enter in a password
Check the Password required checkbox, and then enter in a password in the text field below. Once you're done, don't forget to click the Save & continue button to save your changes.
NOTE: passwords do not need to be unique across multiple ticket types.
4. Success!
All done!
Once you've created a password-protected ticket type, a link that says Password-protected tickets will be created automatically and displayed on your event's "Select tickets" page.
Visitors will only be able to purchase password-protected tickets by entering in the appropriate password.
NOTE: passwords entered do not need to be case sensitive.
