How to Create an Unsecured Streaming Event

In addition to using PromoTix's secured built-in live streaming software PromoStream, you can also sell tickets to a virtual event using a third party streaming service. This guide will teach you how.

IMPORTANT: When using a third party streaming service, your stream may be unsecured, meaning attendees may be able to access your stream without purchasing a ticket on PromoTix. Keep this in mind and review your streaming platform's security measures before proceeding below.

1. Click on "+ New Event"

Click on the "+ New Event" button to start creating your event.

2. Fill Out Your Event's Details

Unsecured Streaming Event DetailsAdd some basic details for your event. Make sure "Virtual" and "Unsecured - Other" are both selected.

  • A 👉 Add a title for your event

  • B 👉 Choose the category that best matches your event

  • C 👉 Paste the "join link" that ticket buyers will need in order to join your live stream. This link can be found on your third party streaming service.

Once you're done, click on the "Save & Continue" button.

NOTE: When attendees purchase a ticket to your Unsecured Streaming event on PromoTix, they will receive the link you provide above to join your live stream in their confirmation email.

3. Set Live Stream Dates & Times

Create PromoTix Event - WhenLet your attendees know when you will be live streaming. Set your timezone, and the date(s) and time(s) for your stream. Once you're done, click on the "Save & Continue" button.

TIP: Use the "+ Add another day" button to add multiple days to your live stream.

TIP: If your event spans continuously over multiple days, use the "End time is past midnight" checkbox(es).

4. Create Tickets

Create Virtual Event - How MuchTime to let people know what you're selling! After you've set up all of your tickets, click on the "Save & Continue" button.

  • A 👉Select your currency from the dropdown menu

IMPORTANT: Event organizers are limited to one currency per account, so make sure that you select your preferred currency here.

  • B 👉Add a title for your ticket type

  • C 👉Set the available ticket inventory for your ticket type

  • D 👉Set a price for your ticket type

  • E 👉 Show additional settings (see below)

  • F 👉Duplicate your ticket type

  • G 👉Delete your ticket type
  • H 👉Create a new ticket type

Here are the additional settings you can adjust for each of your ticket types:

  • I 👉Add a ticket description (optional)

  • J 👉 If checked, your ticket type description will not be shown publicly, but it will be visible to you

  • K 👉 If checked, your ticket type will not be shown publicly, but it will be visible to you
  • L 👉 If checked, the number of remaining tickets available for this ticket type will be shown publicly
  • K 👉 If checked, ticket holders will be allowed to safely transfer this ticket type to others using PromoTix

IMPORTANT: The Promoter Package is required in order to enable this feature. If you do not have the Promoter Package activated, click on the "Upgrade" button to activate it.

  • N 👉 If checked, you can edit the minimum and maximum number of this ticket type that can be purchased at a time

  • O 👉 The minimum number of this ticket type that can be purchased at a time

  • P 👉The maximum number of this ticket type that can be purchased at a time

  • Q 👉 Decide on when this ticket type will go on sale. You can either choose a specific date & time, or have this ticket type go on sale automatically once another ticket type goes off sale

  • R 👉 Set the date when this ticket type will go on sale
  • S 👉 Set the time when this ticket type will go on sale
  • T 👉 Set the date when this ticket type will go off sale
  • U 👉 Set the time when this ticket type will go off sale

5. Add Payment Settings & Publish

  • A 👉 If checked, you can add a public refund policy for your event

  • B 👉 Add a public support email address in case anyone has a question

  • C 👉 If you're selling tickets on PromoTix, you'll be required to connect a Stripe account here. Simply click this button to link a pre-existing Stripe account, or create a new one.

NOTE: Once your Stripe account has been connected successfully, you will see a small edit icon on the button and the text "Connected with Stripe." You can click on the edit icon to connect a different Stripe account to your event once one has already been connected.

  • D 👉 Click this button to publish your event
  • E 👉 Click this button to adjust additional settings for your event, such as:
    • Event Image(s)
    • Event Description
    • Add Additional Organizer(s)
    • Tag Performer(s)
    • Keyword Search Terms
    • Event Privacy
    • Customize Event Page URL
    • Customize Registration Field(s)
    • Customize Confirmation Email Text
  • F 👉 Click this button to preview your event before publishing

6. Start Selling Tickets

Unsecured Streaming Event - Start Selling TicketsCongratulations, your event is now live!

Follow these steps to view your brand new event page, and share it with the world:

  1. Click on your event from your PromoTix dashboard (the small green banner that says "Live" indicates that your event has been published)
  2. Click on the "View Event" button in the top right hand corner of the screen
  3. Click on the orange "Share Event" button
  4. Copy your event page's link (shown below) and start sharing it to begin selling tickets
