How to create an unsecured streaming event

In addition to using PromoTix's secured, built-in live streaming tools, you can also sell tickets to a virtual event and use a third party streaming service (Zoom, YouTube, etc.).

Follow these instructions to to create an unsecured streaming event on PromoTix.

IMPORTANT: When using a third party streaming service, your stream may be unsecured, meaning attendees may be able to access your live stream without purchasing a ticket on PromoTix. Keep this in mind and review your streaming platform's security measures before proceeding below.

1. Click on "+ New Event"

Click on the + Add new event button to start creating your unsecured streaming event.

2. Fill out your event's details

StreamAdd some basic details for your event. Make sure Streaming and Stream on a different platform (unsecured) options are both selected.

  • A 👉 Add a title for your event

  • B 👉 Choose the category that best matches your event

  • C 👉 Paste in this field the join link that ticket buyers will need in order to join your live stream. This link can be found using your third party streaming service.

Once you're done, click on the Save & continue button.

NOTE: When attendees purchase a ticket to your unsecured streaming event on PromoTix, they will receive the link you provided above in their confirmation emails to join your live stream. Make sure the link is correct so that attendees are able to join your live stream.

3. Set live stream dates & times

Screenshot (67)Let your attendees know when you will be live streaming. Set your timezone, and the date(s) and time(s) for your stream. Once you're done, click on the Save & continue button.

TIP: Use the "+ Add another day" button to add multiple days to your live stream.

TIP: If your event spans continuously over multiple days, use the "End time is past midnight" checkbox(es).

4. Create ticket types

  • A 👉Select your currency from the dropdown menu

IMPORTANT: Event organizers are limited to one currency per account, so make sure that you select your preferred currency here.

  • B 👉 add a title for your ticket type

  • C 👉 set the available inventory for your ticket type

  • D 👉 set a price for your ticket type

  • E 👉 show additional settings (see below)

  • F 👉 duplicate your ticket type

  • G 👉 delete your ticket type
  • H 👉 create a new add-on (ex. merchandise, upgrades)
  •  I 👉 create a new ticket type

Here are the additional settings you can adjust for each of your ticket types:

  • A 👉 if checked, your ticket type description will not be shown publicly, but it will be visible to you

  • B 👉 if checked, the number of remaining tickets available for this ticket type will be shown publicly
  • C 👉 if checked, ticket holders will be allowed to safely transfer this ticket type to others using PromoTix.
  • D 👉 if checked, your ticket type will not be shown publicly, but it will be visible to you
  • E 👉 if checked, customers will only be able to purchase this ticket type online by entering in the correct password. See more information here.
  • F 👉 if checked, you can edit the minimum and maximum number of this ticket type that can be purchased at a time.
  • G 👉 add a ticket description (optional)
  • H 👉 decide when this ticket type will go on sale. You can either choose a specific date and time, or have this ticket type go on sale automatically once another ticket type goes off sale or sells out.
  • 👉 set the date when this ticket type will go on sale

  • 👉 set the time when this ticket type will go on sale
  • K 👉 set the date when this ticket type will go off sale
  • L 👉 set the time when this ticket type will go off sale

  • M 👉 create a new add-on (ex. merchandise, upgrades)

  • N 👉 

After you've set up all of your tickets, click on the Save & continue button.

5. Add payment settings & publish event

Let's make sure you get paid from ticket sales!

  • A 👉 If checked, ticket buyers will be able to send you refund requests directly through the PromoTix application (keep this box unchecked if you do not plan to issue any refunds)

  • B 👉 enter your event's refund policy here. IMPORTANT: once your event has been published, this cannot be changed.
  • C 👉 Enter your event's terms & conditions here (ex. age requirements, legal disclaimers, etc.). IMPORTANT: once your event has been published, this cannot be changed.
  • D 👉 in order to sell paid tickets on PromoTix, you must connect a payment processing account in order to publish your event. Simply click on one of the buttons to create a new payment processing account, or connect an existing one. NOTE: Once your payment processing account has been connected successfully, you will see a small edit icon to the left of the button, and the button will say "connected." You can click on the edit icon to connect a different payment processing account to your event after one has already been connected.
  • E  👉 click this button to access additional settings for your event, including event image(s), event description, etc.
  • F 👉 click this button to preview your event before publishing.
  • G 👉 click this button to publish your event.

6. Start selling tickets

Share event (2)Congratulations, your event is now live!

Follow these steps to view your brand new event page, and share it with the world:

  1. Click on your event from your PromoTix dashboard (the small orange circle that says "Live" indicates that your event has been published)
  2. Click on the View event button in the top right hand corner of the screen
  3. Click on the orange Share event button
  4. Copy your event page's link (shown below) and start sharing it to begin selling tickets
